PROJECT NAME:  Springbrooke Industrial Park

LOCATION: Aston, PA

PROJECT OWNER: Trammell Crow

CONTRACTOR: ERS

Silentium’s project at the Springbrooke Industrial Park in Aston, PA, stands as a testament to the importance of noise mitigation in upholding and maintaining a positive community relationship.

Despite being within local ordinance to noise generation, the client: an industrial production facility backing onto a quiet residential neighborhood chose to proactively protect from potential day-to-day noise generated from the site.

Through a collaborative effort, the Silentium team worked with project owners, Trammell Crow and their site engineering sub-contractor, ERS, to advise on a wall design. The final design incorporated the multiple grade changes onsite and achieved a significant noise reduction. The result was 17,000 sq ft of Absorptive PVC (APVC), segmented into three sections that vary in wall heights.

Patrick Harkins, Director of Business Development for Silentium Group, explains that: “this client chose Silentium specifically for the multi-faceted capability which included fabrication and supply as well as engineering and even installation.”

Absorptive PVC was the best solution that fit their noise barrier requirements. Meeting the appropriate Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) ratings was essential. Followed closely by delivering to the expedited timeline. From start to finish, the wall system was designed, fabricated, and installed within 10 weeks. “In a world where both timelines and protecting our communities from noise are critical,” continues Patrick, “PVC achieves this effortlessly.”

Due to the variation in site grade elevations and slopes, the intricacies of this project demanded meticulous attention to detail. Silentium’s team crafted two wall sections standing at 15 feet high where the site elevation was higher. To accommodate a large slope in grade, the third wall section was designed as a towering 30 feet tall, which is the largest PVC noise barrier system Silentium has constructed to date for a client.

The team’s expertise combined with the highly effective APVC noise wall solution provided a seamless acoustic barrier that exceeded regulatory standards and client engagement with their surrounding community.
