Over the past 12 months Silentium Group has provided its MTO DSM noise barrier wall system and integrated retaining wall solutions on the Metrolinx – Stouffville Rail Corridor Phase 1 Expansion Project from south of Kennedy Rd to north of Marilyn Ave. Over 17,000 sq. meters of Silentium Group’s Eco Sound Barrier is to be installed on Phase 1 of this Corridor project by end of 2017.
Working closely with Dufferin Construction, a Division of CRH (and Metrolinx), Silentum Group’s Eco Sound Barrier system was an ideal choice by both the Contractor and Owner. With noise wall panel spans of 4.2m and stack heights of .914m, Silenitum Group Eco Sound Barrier panels weigh less than 190lbs with the ability to be cut and modified onsite. These lightweight panels are being installed using smaller equipment than cumbersome heavy alternative noise wall panels and within a shorter period of time. With a very tight corridor footprint, constant train activity and the noise wall system being installed within an offset of less than 500mm from resident property lines; Silentium Group’s Eco Sound Barrier system has been an ideal choice for this project application.
Through community relation programs, Metrolinx thrives to achieve aesthetic continuity requirements throughout these corridor type projects while looking for community feedback from residents. Silentium Group was able to provide Metrolinx with an abundance of aesthetic options through its innovative manufacturing technology. A modern slate grey colour was chosen on the corridor side to accent the streamlined design of the Eco Sound Barrier noise wall panels; while also accenting the galvanized steel posts. An intricate grey stone print pattern was chosen for the residence side of noise wall as per community feedback.
Silentium Group will continue to provide updates on this exciting project as it progresses through 2017.
